I’m Kat Schulthies and I’m so glad you’re here!

I’ve been baking professionally since 2011, and while there are many things I love to bake, I have grown especially fond of making cakes for any and all occasions.

I started Boy, Howdy! Bakeshop hoping to capture the best fleeting moments, warm memories, the little nostalgia trips life has to offer in a tangible, delicious medium. Maybe that’s through replicating your childhood birthday cake flavor. Or the blooms I add on top match the ones your grandma has in her garden. Perhaps it is simply savoring the juiciest, ripest summer berries the PNW had for just a moment in time.

Cakes always seem to show up at life’s most precious events, and it’s my biggest honor to be a part of yours. Cake is love. Baking is love. Here is something I made for you because I love you.

Who is calico kat?

Legend has it that after a few too many close calls with the Corriganville sheriff, an outlaw by the name of Calico Kat decided to pull up stakes and head up north to the new logging town of Seattle to start anew. She settled in to her cozy little cabin and began making cakes and other sweet treats for the hard working folks in the community. She realized how fulfilling it was to share in life’s celebrations through a freshly made cake and hung up her pistol for good.
